Innovation is in its DNA…
The 1007 writes a new chapter in small car design with its use of innovative technology. Innovation, however, is not new to Peugeot, over the last 113 years Peugeot in fact has been responsible for the introduction of ten “World Firsts” in the use of new technology.
These include:
The Opportunity…
The UK small car market has increased by more than 59% in the last ten years. When the Peugeot 206 was launched in 1998 the market accounted for 566,839 sales. By the end of 2004, a total of 839,604 small cars had been sold.
The market now accounts for 33% of the total UK car market and is the largest individual market segment. Indeed, over the next ten years, it is expected to grow further, fuelled by the introduction of unique vehicles designed to meet the evolving needs of individual customers.
The majority of this growth is expected to come from vehicles using single compartment architecture.
Applied to a small car, the single compartment architecture allows the creation of strong and innovative product characteristics, offering many advantages:
Understanding these, strengths, Peugeot designed an original concept car, which it presented under the name of Sésame at the Paris Motor Show in 2002.
The 1007: a truly innovative design...
• 3.73 m in length, a compact size ideal for threading in and out of busy traffic or parking in town
• A single compartment design with a height of 1.62 m provides an architecture that favours interior space and user-friendliness, providing a high and dominating driving position that ensures excellent visibility and safety
• Remote-controlled electric front sliding doors, first seen on the Sésame concept car, are standard fitment on all 1007 models
• Exterior designed by Pininfarina but incorporating the new stylistic identity of the current Peugeot range and the interior designed by Peugeot Style
At ease in the city, but also able to take major roads and motorways in its stride, the 1007 is powered by a choice of three petrol engines and one diesel engine.
Chameleon: personalising the interior of the 1007…
This new innovative concept launched on the 1007 allows users to choose the trim and decor of their 1007 from twelve individual kits, each supplementing the standard dark-blue interior.
Each one consists of eighteen parts (two fascia panel mats, four air vent covers, two door panel covers, two rear storage covers, eight seat covers).
The Chameleon concept enables owners to choose the interior of their car at the time of purchase or choose a new interior at any time. The interior can be transformed without any tools and in less than fifteen minutes.
So easy to drive...
Comfortably installed in a driving position that dominates the road, the driver enjoys excellent driving comfort enhanced by:
• Exceptional panoramic visibility resulting from the single-compartment architecture and the rearward positioned 'B' posts
• Electric power steering, which makes child's play of parking manoeuvres while ensuring good dynamic performance
• A 2-Tronic electronically controlled manual gearbox, available with both the 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines, provides both manual and automatic driving modes.
Safety…
Designed to resist even the severest impact, awarded the highest score ever and a five star Euro NCAP occupant protection rating, the structure of the 1007 and its electric sliding doors provides the most effective protection possible. It is also supplemented inside by numerous passive safety systems for the occupants.
Seven air bags (including a steering column air bag) protect the safety of all four occupants. At the rear, children can count on Isofix locations with the new 3-point anchorages... and can be monitored from the front seats by means of a special retractable child surveillance mirror.
ESP…
The 1007 is fitted as standard with an ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) system. Developed in partnership with TEVES it is of the MK 60 type. It includes anti-lock braking (ABS), traction control (ASR) that acts on the engine management and brakes, together with stability control (CDS), which uses the steering wheel angle, yaw speed and lateral acceleration sensors to detect the initial stages of under or over-steer. When this has been detected, the ECU corrects the car by controlled braking of the wheels; within the limits of the laws of physics, to return the car to the driver's chosen trajectory.
Dolce and Sport...
The 1007 range consists of two trim levels, Dolce and Sport. The range is built around a high level of standard equipment which pays particular attention to the concept of "user-friendliness" (electric sliding doors, interior modularity, chameleon interiors) and class leading active and passive safety equipment (ABS, ESP, EBFD, EBA, Seven Air Bags, Seat Belt Warning System and Rear Isofix Child Seat Mountings).
The Dolce and Sport models both have front fog lights, air conditioning with an athermic front windscreen, mono CD radio with controls on the steering wheel, a comprehensive multifunction display, a leather steering wheel, one touch operation with safety auto reverse for the electric windows, a child surveillance mirror and a luggage net.
The Sport model gains the following additional equipment:
• Exterior - headlamps with black masking, 16" alloy wheels, sports front and rear bumpers complemented by honeycomb grilles, chrome plated exhaust pipe, body-coloured side protection mouldings
• Interior - sports seats and enhanced use of aluminium (pedals, sill kick plates, gear knob etc), automatic air conditioning, automatic windscreen wipers and headlights, black instrument dials with chrome surrounds as well as front carpet mats
With comprehensive standard specification an important criteria in the purchasing decision of small cars, the rich standard specification of the 1007, provides the best option compared to the key competitors.
It is the only vehicle in the segment to have 7 airbags, air-conditioning, ESP and a changeable interior as standard on every model in the range.

Wheels…
Wheels are either 15 or 16 inch and match the dynamic performance of the particular version. The 1007 Dolce is fitted with 6J15-inch steel wheels with Ocean wheel trims and 185/60 HR 15 tyres; a 15” optional alloy wheel is also available.
The 1007 Sport is fitted with 6J16 "Antelope" alloy wheels with 195/50 VR 16 tyres.
Electric Sliding Doors…
The electric sliding doors are a major feature of the new motoring experience offered by the 1007. Innovative and magical, they provide an answer to customers of compact cars in search of practical innovation.
The design of the doors makes day-to-day living easier, thanks in particular to:
• An original means of access to the vehicle
• Uncompromised side visibility
• Ease of getting into or out of the car in a restricted space
• Enhanced safety with respect to the immediate environment
Even with arms loaded, a press on the remote control key slides the door rearwards in 5 seconds (without exceeding the overall length of the car), to reveal a maximum opening of 920 mm, that offers unrestricted access to the inside of the vehicle.
Whilst making day-to-day life easier in so many ways, the electric sliding doors are equipped with numerous safety devices that testify to the great care with which this innovative car has been designed:
Modularity - Seats…
With many possible combinations the cleverness of the interior modularity and adaptability of the 1007, enables a user to change easily and very quickly from four to two, or even one seat, without the seats having to be removed and stored.
Storage Space…
The interior space of the 1007 contributes to the pleasure and relaxation of its occupants, who can organise their living space as they see fit.
The Boot…
The 1007 provides a dedicated boot space more often associated with more traditional family cars.
Measured from the top of the rear seats, the 1007 offers a boot capacity of 234 dm3 (VDA standard) with the seats in their nominal position. This volume can, however, vary between 178 dm3 (rear seats as far back as possible) and 364 dm3 (rear seats as far forward as possible), allowing users to decide on the best configuration for their needs at any given time. For this purpose, the special controls allowing individual seats to be adjusted from the boot are duplicated, on the passenger compartment side, by levers under each of the rear seats.
A rich palette of 11 exterior colours is available on the 1007, consisting of:
| Tacoma Yellow | Flamenco Red |
| SalamancaOrange | Cayman Green |
| Aegean Blue | Lunar Mist |
| Himalayan Grey | Iron Grey |
| Onyx Black | Montebello Blue |
| Aluminium |
Combined with twelve choices of "Caméléo" interior trims,
All Peugeot 1007s first registered in the UK and purchased from a UK Peugeot Dealer benefit from a Peugeot 2-Year unlimited mileage manufacturers warranty and a free optional 1-Year of warranty provided by the Peugeot Dealer Network in the UK. This warranty is dependent upon the manufacturer’s recommended servicing being carried out at the time or distance intervals specified in the PEUGEOT Warranty and Maintenance Record booklet, subject to the vehicle being driven less than 60,000 miles since first registration.
